    Estimate vs Quote

An estimate is a price approximation; a quote is a binding offer to do the work for that price.

In casual usage the terms are interchangeable, but legally an estimate may be revised while a quote (especially a written binding quote) is contractually firm once accepted. Setting customer expectations on which one you're providing eliminates disputes.
